Wilkinson."

Sue has performed in England as well as Scotland, including high profile gigs at Burnley International Blues Festival, The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen Scotland, The 12 bar club in London, The Musician in Leicester and The Studio in Hartlepool. Denmark is the home of her former label Ap Records, and Lu and toured there twice.

No reason to wonder why Sue has opened up for bands like Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Lush, The Indigo Girls, Hem, Grateful Dead's Bob Weir, Michelle Shock, Kansas, Acoustic Alchemy and most recently Art Garfunkel and Jane Siberry among many others.

Eline Chavez

Singer/songwriter Eline Chavez has been writing, performing and been in and out of bands since she was 15. Her catalog of music begins with her first release at the age of 16, an EP titled "5 Minutes". The last release was in 2008 with her long time Georgia based band Someday Merry. The album, entitled "Rescue Me", was released by Senate Records in 2008, however, the band decided to part ways prior to its official release and tour.

Resurfacing after a five year long hiatus, she came up to breathe in 2013. Finding herself sought out by a handful thanks to a close friend, she began working in the independent music and film industries in Toronto and Vancouver.

Now calling New York City home, she still spends time in Austin and recently began working on her fourteenth album. Wearing all the hats with this project, it is safe to say that she is back. Not only is Eline writing and playing the guitar again, she is also playing all the other instruments and is mixing, producing and engineering this new project, "The Epic and The Restless", scheduled for release in late August 2016.

Currently, he is the drummer for the Joey Stuckey Rock/Blues trio.

Kim Meeks

Kim Meeks, a Macon native, is a singer and songwriter born and raised in Macon Georgia. Kim Meeks' sound is a hybrid of rock, soul, jazz, and alternative. Her smoky voice resonates with listeners, and her sultry songs leave them wanting more. Kim has performed in various locations throughout the Southeast including New Orleans, Atlanta, Orlando, and Asheville. She was also a winner in New Town Macon's "Macon Music CD - Volume 1." Her song "Sleeping with the Past" was featured.

Her first EP, "Forget Me Not," was released on April 1st. Meeks wrote all of the songs on the EP, and it was produced by award winning producer, Joey Stuckey, at Shadow Sound Studios in Macon, Georgia.

Doc Henderson

Doc Henderson grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and as the son of a Baptist minister, was introduced early on to the sound of gospel and church music. With groups such as Wendy Bagwell and the Sunlighters and the LeFevres providing the music on a Sunday afternoon, Doc quickly developed an appreciation of words and the power they hold lyrically.

In the 70's Doc moved to Augusta, Georgia to study medicine and it was here that he wrote his first song, "You Don't Know Yet." A few years later whilst reunited with his childhood piano, his musical interest progressed and he began writing songs and composing music. This interest grew after hanging out backstage with Billy Roberts – songwriter of "Hey, Joe" – as well as listening to Billy's personal rendition of "Hey, Joe" in his living room while Billy lived with Doc for over a year in Atlanta.

Having no real formal training, Doc Henderson is self-taught and composes using guitar and the piano, jotting down lyrical ideas whenever the words come to him. With influences as diverse as Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffett and Leonard Cohen, he produces a sound mainly echoing country and rockabilly, with occasional moments of rhythm and blues.

When Clarence Carter was looking for a great cover for his 1980s album Dr. C. C., featuring the release of his world-famous song "Strokin'," he called on Doc to help produce the album cover, which features Clarence examining a real skeleton.

Doc has worked with publicist Dominic Brendell, an Englishman whose father played on several songs with the Beatles. And some of Doc's early demos featured several members of the Atlanta Rhythm Section, as well as two members of the old James Brown band.

"Having people like Dean Daughtry of ARS play keyboards for me and St. Clair Pinckney of James Brown's band play a killer saxophone on several of my songs was a real thrill and a great learning experience early on," says Doc.

In the past few months Doc Henderson has been busy at work in the studio, collaborating with musicians from Georgia. Recently performing artist Kim Meeks (Macon Music CD. Vol. 1) met up with Doc Henderson to record his song, "Lately," co-written with Joey Stuckey and recorded at Shadow Sound Studio in Macon. Doc has also written and produced several comedy songs, along with producing several cuts by Memphis recording artist Carl White.

Doc Henderson has released a 12-song CD called Hangover Blues, which is available on CDBaby and iTunes. Doc's latest release, in April 2016, is a re-cut off of that album of his upbeat country song "A Steel Guitar, A Honky-Tonk Bar and A Good Woman." Doc and Joey Stuckey had Macon, Georgia artist perform the vocals Frank Wilder for this one, and that single is now available on CDBaby and iTunes.

Stacy Hostler

Stacy is a Christian artist and songwriter whose music captures the true essence of worship. She began singing at an early age and then writing songs as a teenager. At the age of 11, she joined her church's worship team and as a teen began to sense Holy Spirit leading her in that direction. Over the years God has opened doors and allowed her to lead worship for many churches, children and youth ministries, conferences, adult and youth prisons, as well as many local events throughout her community. In 2010, She was given the opportunity to write and record her very first album entitled "Up Close". This was truly an incredible experience for her and the beginning of something much greater.

She is also a wife and mother of three. Her husband, Jeff, serves in the United States Air force and they are currently stationed at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. They have been married for over 10yrs. Her oldest, Cameron, is 15yrs old. Caleigh is 13 and the youngest is Chloe at 8yrs old. In October 2012, she was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma and underwent both chemo and radiation . Along with these treatments and many prayers, today she is currently in full remission. She believes, though she may not understand God's plan at every moment of her life, every once in a while she gets a glimpse of God's promises to her. This reassures her faith that He's not done with her yet and the greatest is still to come.

She is currently writing and preparing for her next album which she hopes to begin soon. Until then, her heart absolutely loves knowing she has the opportunity to help lead others into the presence of God. It's the place where lives are changed and God does His greatest work. Teaching others about worship is her passion. Leading others into God's presence is where her heart is. But striving to live a life of worship ... Well, That is her purpose!

The Alex Tjoland Band

TATB formed in 2006. Alex was about 12 years old. His parents divorced, and Alex was down in the dumps about the breakup of his family. Bo Sammons, the band's guitar player and principal song writer, told Alex to bring his drums to church and they'd start playing together. Within about six months, Rachel Elkins started singing with the band, and by 2008 the band was made up of its core members – Alex, Bo, Rachel, Delisa Kyzer on piano and keyboards, and Erik Tjoland on bass. A few other people came and went, but these five players have been the lasting core of the band. TATB released two CDs of original music, "Shot at Redemption" and "Silent Revelry". "Silent Revelry" picked up 3- and 4-star reviews from around the world. The band's music has primarily been described as blues/rock. Reviewers RAVED about Rachel Elkins' big voice. TATB is all about arpeggiated guitar work, bluesy solos, beautiful piano and keyboards, a solid rhythm section, and soaring vocals. Dig it.

Joey Stuckey Presents: Ladies of the South

Review by G. W. Hill

The title pretty much describes this set. The mix of sounds here leans more often toward bluesy rock, but there really is quite a range. There are some things here that kind of lose me, while others work extremely well. Of course, that's typical for a various artists type of thing. —G.W. Hill

Track by Track Review

What You See Ain't What You Get - Shadow Bandits featuring Sue Lu
This hard rocker has a lot of blues rock in the mix. In some ways it makes me think of Heart just a little.

Everybody's Pretty - Kim Meeks
There is a short little weird electronic based movement at the start. Then it works out to a rather bluesy rocking cut.

Start Over - Hugh Hession featuring Camille Scoggins & Sue Tomlin
Piano leads this cut out at the start. The cut is a pretty balladic piece of music. This is one of my favorites here.

With You - Someday Merry featuring Eline Chavez
I dig this rocker. It's built on a classic sound and has both mellower and more hard edged territory.

Danish Cookies Is My Name - Vanessa Moses
This is unexpected. It seems like Bjork, but with a real Latin element at its heart. Artsy and yet fun, this is so cool. This is weird, but I absolutely love it. This is probably my favorite tune here.

Box Labeled Questions - Tyler Moore featuring Camille Scoggins
I love this jazzy, bluesy number. It's another highlight of the set.

Lonely Boulevard - Katherine Daniel
I'm not really a fan of this rocker.

Letting Go
The Vineyard Band featuring Amber Pierce & Heidi Clinite - More of a country ballad styled piece, this is a cool tune.

Home - Louise Warren
A bit more of an alternative rocker, I like this one quite a bit.

Lately (Morning Dove, Mourning Sparrow) - Doc Henderson featuring Kim Meeks
Old school soulful sounds are the idea here. This is mellow and rather pretty. It doesn't work that well for me, though. I dig the cool instrumental work at the end of the piece.

Something More - Stacy Hostler
I really love piano on this cut. The tune starts mellower, but eventually works to more rocking territory.

Johnny 9 (Blind Man Remix) - TATB featuring Rachel Elkins
I really like this harder rocking number. It's a cool cut. In fact, it's another highlight.

Review: Ricky Kej

"Ladies Of The South is a grand album with some truly mind-blowing songs performed by twelve supremely talented female artists. This is an awesome project and worth multiple listens. From "What You See Ain't What You Get (feat. Sue Lu)", that has sassy lyrics and attitude coming out of each chord to Kim Meeks' marvelous vocals in "Everybody's Pretty", and from "With You (feat. Eline Chavez)" powerful voice to Vanessa Moses' sultry voiced "Danish Cookies Is My Name", I loved each and every one of the twelve tracks. Produced marvelously and with great love, this album rocks!!"

Grammy-winning artist Ricky Kej

Review: Keys and Chords

That the American South - fantastic bands and music houses has long been no hidden secret. Producer Joey Stuckey, the official ambassador for the music of his hometown of Macon, Georgia now has twelve songs written which were played by Southern female artists and sung. This compilation album encompasses a dozen diversities and musical styles. Shadow Bandits feat. Sue Lu may open the dance with the blues rocker "What You See Is Not What You Get," which is quickly cooled by the blues tinged "Everybody's Pretty" by Kim Meeks and the slow ballad "Start Over" by Hugh Hession feat. Camille Scoggins and Sue Tomlin. The pop and rock tinged "With You" by Someday Merry feat. Eline Chavez is in pleasant contrast to the salsa-feeling Vanessa Moses and her song "Danish Cookies Is My Name". Camille Scoggins and Tyler Moore are back with poppy "Box Labeled Questions" and come in antithesis with rock arrangements of "Lonely Boulevard" by Katherine Daniel. The folky "Letting Go" by The Vineyard Band feat. Amber Pierce and Heidi Clinite runs in the orchestral spirituality of "Home" by Louise Warren. The acoustic "Lately" (Morning Dove, Mourning Sparrow) by Doc Henderson feat. Kim Meeks goes along with the piano guided "Something More" with excellent singer Stacy Hostler. The band TATB feat. Rachel Elkins may be vastly experienced in a rock manner, terminate the dance with the song "Johnny 9".

-Philip Verhaege. "The diversity on this album is the biggest selling point. You discover an artist, where you want to know more about."

"Ladies of the South" Reviewed on Fatea

Highly respected producer Joey Stuckey is the brains behind the "Ladies of the South" compilation, a showcase for female musicians from Macon, Georgia. A strong-willed attitude, powerful vocals and the sound of soft rock guitars unite these 12 tracks.

The impetus for the project came from the recording of the first song, "What You See Ain't What You Get", by the Shadow Bandits featuring Sue Lu. Joey co-wrote the track with Charlie Hoskyns of The Popes, Will Morrison of Modern English and Paul McGuinness of The Pogues and needed someone with the attitude of Janis Joplin to sing it. Joey says Sue Lu was the perfect choice and it's a stirring declaration of independence for strong women.

The other tracks come from acts recorded by Joey over the past six years.

"Danish Cookies Is My Name" by Vanessa Moses is the most catchy and upbeat, with a cheeky attitude and Latin rhythms.

Another standout is "Lately (Morning Dove, Mourning Sparrow)" by Doc Henderson featuring Kim Meeks, about a woman watching her marriage fall apart and it stands a fair comparison to Rosanne Cash.

Stacy Hostler's "Something More" is beautifully sung with some heartfelt piano backing.

A welcome surprise - a collection of regional tracks from the States which avoid the clichés of Americana.

Andy Nelmes

Review: Let It Rock - VARIOUS ARTISTS – Joey Stuckey Presents Ladies Of The South

A courteous cross-section of talent from the land of the sultry song.

There's nothing a Southern belle couldn't conquer – everybody knows it since "Gone With The Wind" – and, having produced some of those, Joey Stuckey stumbled upon an idea of gathering the regional crops which resulted in this concise anthology. A blues maven, as his own albums suggest, the guitarist needed a voice to deliver a feminist demand for respect on the punchy "What You See Ain't What You Get" that he co-wrote with THE POPES, and Sue Lu proved to be a suitable belter, and that's how it all started, yet the genre gamut of the dozen cuts on display is much wider.

It's not about civil rights or defiance, though, what with Vanessa Moses' infectious salsa of "Danish Cookies Is My Name" or the hard rocking "Lonely Boulevard" from Katherine Daniel which embrace purely romantic notions. More so, there's acceptance of domestic turmoil in the folky "Letting Go" by THE VINEYARD BAND and Kim Meeks' "Everybody's Pretty" that turns pop idiom upside down, while "Home" by Louise Warren wraps it in orchestral spirituality, and Stacy Hostler's voice and piano elevate "Something More" to a chamber vibrancy. But TATB and Rachel Elkins' "Johnny 9" finds the joy of life in blues, its "Blind Man" refrain a reference to Stuckey's ability to sense a talent without seeing. That's the Southern way.

Ann Carlini's Review:

Title - 'Joey Stuckey Presents: Ladies of the South' / Artist - Various

For those not in the know, The South has produced some amazing musical artists over the decades. Acts like Lady Antebellum, R.E.M., the B52’s, the Allman Brothers, Wet Willie, Jason Aldean, Little Richard, Otis Redding, James Brown, Jennifer Nettles, Trisha Yearwood, Indigo Girls, Black Crows, Collective Soul and many many more have pleasured us (if you pardon the expression) down through the years via our radio airwaves.

Here on Joey Stuckey Presents: Ladies of the South, blind Producer Joey Stuckey, official ambassador of music for his hometown of Macon, Georgia, has collected 12 songs written or performed by female artists from the south and showcased them in this compilation of exciting and powerful women!

On a stunning, and amazingly fresh sounding compilation you will find multiple genres covered, but it also serves as a shining example of what The South means to music lovers all over the world!

1. "What You See Ain't What You Get" - Shadow Bandits feat. Sue Lu
2. "Everybody's Pretty" - Kim Meeks
3. "Start Over" - Hugh Hession (feat. Camille Scoggins & Sue Tomlin)
4. "With You" - Someday Merry (feat. Eline Chavez)
5. "Danish Cookies Is My Name" - Vanessa Moses
6. "Box Labeled Questions" - Tyler Moore (feat. Camille Scoggins)
7. "Lonely Boulevard" - Katherine Daniel
8. "Letting Go" - The Vineyard Band (feat. Amber Pierce & Heidi Clinite)

10. "Lately (Morning Dove, Mourning Sparrow) [feat. Kim Meeks]
11. "Something More" - Stacy Hostler
12. "Johnny 9 (Blind Man Remix)" - TATB [feat. Rachel Elkins]

Up first is fireball track "What You See Ain't What You Get" from the Shadow Bandits featuring Sue Lu, and that's backed by both the night club hue of "Everybody's Pretty" from Kim Meeks and then one of my most favorite tracks out of the dozen, "Start Over" from Hugh Hession feat. Camille Scoggins & Sue Tomlin). It truly is a most beautiful, haunting at times cut and fully deserves as much radio airplay as anything that I've heard in a long, long time.

Next up is "With You" from Someday Merry (feat. Eline Chavez) which is followed by the uber-fun '30s flashback aura of "Danish Cookies Is My Name" from Vanessa Moses, the stunning, liberating, soaring "Box Labeled Questions" from Tyler Moore (feat. Camille Scoggins), and then both the guitar-thrashing "Lonely Boulevard" from Katherine Daniel, and the first really Country-vibed track, "Letting Go" by The Vineyard Band feat. Amber Pierce & Heidi Clinite.

Then comes Louise Warren's lovely, heartfelt "Home", which is yet another of my stand-out favorites on this great compilation. Next up is "Lately (Morning Dove, Mourning Sparrow)" from Doc Henderson (feat. Kim Meeks), and that is backed by the ballad "Something More" from Stacy Hostler, before the whole project comes to a close with "Johnny 9 (Blind Man Remix)" by TATB featuring Rachel Elkins.

Midwest Record's Review:

SENATE RECORDS
JOEY STUCKEY PRESENTS LADIES OF THE SOUTH/various: These ladies of the south aren't a bunch of pageant material, sorority sisters. This is a bunch of sisters doing it for themselves, whether guitar slingers, sweet voiced attitude problems or everyone in between. A well stocked, well balanced sampler of artists produced by Stuckey over the last 6 years, the well traveled rocker knows his stuff and has a finely tuned ear for cherry picking talent. There's some mighty fine, fun stuff on the horizon.

The Shadow Bandits Debut Their UK - US Collaboration On Madame Perry's Salon - 8/16/16 Show

Here are some of the favorite tracks as reviewed from Music Perk (click here for the full review):

The opening track, "What You See Ain't What You Get" by The Shadow Bandits featuring Sue Lu, starts off with a medley of strong guitar riffs and drums before the shrill lead vocals of assumedly Sue Wilkinson make you nod your head to the music. This song gives you a taste of what it would've been like if Janis Joplin collaborated with The Runaways.

Track number two is Kim Meek's "Everybody's Pretty" which starts off with mellow echoing of "everybody's pretty / when they're Young" and quickly turns into an eclectic mix of jangle and baroque pop. Kim's energetic vocals tell a fascinating story that remind you of Kate Bush's unmatched style of music.

The final track is TATB's "Johnny 9 (Blind Man Remix)" and features Rachel Elkins on lead vocals. It is a concoction of grungy guitar, shrill vocals and a dreamy rhythm – everything you need for a song to be compelling.
